Whereas, the State of Wisconsin has adopted levy limits on town, village, city and county levies for 2018 and thereafter under s. 66.0602 of Wis. Statutes:
Whereas, s. 66.0602 of Wis Statutes limits the allowable local levy for 2026 to a percentage increase of no more than the greater of (a) % of the 2026 payable 2027 adjusted actual levy as calculated under the state’s levy limit law or (b) a percentage equal to the percent change in equalized value due to net new construction; which for the Town of Lincoln is 2.18 percent;
Whereas, the Town Board of the Town of Lincoln, Adams County, believes that for the 2026 tax levy (collected in 2027) it is in the town’s best interest to exceed the state levy limit as described above by a greater percentage than 2.18 percent.
Whereas, the Town of Lincoln’s 2026 payable 2027 adjusted actual levy is $99,364; and further whereas the state law would limit the increase to $2,078 for an allowable town tax levy of $101,442 before adjustments less 2027 personal property aid of $88.40, for 2026, collected in 2027.
Now therefore, the Town Board of the Town of Lincoln, Adams County, does hereby resolve and order as follows:
1) The Town Board supports an increase in the town tax levy for 2026 (to be collected in 2027) that will exceed the state levy limit.
2) The Town Board directs that the question of increasing the allowable town tax levy for 2026 (to be collected in 2027) by 10% which would increase the town levy by $10,144.20 for a total town tax levy of $111,586.20 shall be placed on the agenda for the special town meeting to be held on Thursday, November 20, 2026.
Adopted this 15th day of October, 2026.
